News Update September 2021
Garage Site, New Road, Midhurst
Dear Supporters,
The Midhurst Community Land Trust Team has decided to withdraw its planning application for the Garage Site in New Road, Midhurst.
Following our negotiations to obtain an option to buy the site on New Road, Midhurst, subject to planning consent, we have had to abandon this as a viable proposition for Midhurst Community Land Trust.
We did extensive work on the planning application to make a proposition for 6 one-bedroom flats viable financially, which was a struggle as it is a small site. The COVID pandemic has not helped either, driving up the cost of building materials.
However, after submitting our application and detailed discussions with the planners at South Downs National Park Authority we have concluded that we could not meet their standards within a viable financial package and sadly have had to withdraw our application.
Disappointed as we are, we will reassess the project in the future if funds become available.
We are actively working on three other projects, two of which are in negotiation with stakeholders who own the freeholds of the land concerned. We are still pushing ahead despite the setback with the garage site. Separately, we are pleased to confirm that our new tenants in Wyndham Mews are well settled into their new homes.
Town Hall Meeting
As soon as we’ve some firm news on our next site we are planning to organise a long overdue Town Hall meeting at the Old Library.
Thanks for your time and support
